Theo Albrecht, who helped built Aldi in Germany died today age 88.
The brothers stuck to that business model as they steadily expanded throughout Germany and eventually Europe and overseas markets, including the United States. Both became billionaires; Theo ranked 31st on Forbes magazine’s most recent list of the world’s richest people, with $16.7 billion. Karl, who survives his brother, was 10th with $23.5 billion.

ASA Selection Hot & Fresh Espresso Cups.
There is such a weird and typical story behind those cute cups. We’ve sold dozens of them all over the country even to Martha Stewart Co. ordered a whol bunch last year. And just as we were getting ready to really promote them and push them on our website, ASA in Germany decides to discontinue them. Arg, such is life as a retailer I suppose.
But we still have a few packs of the espresso cups left. The larger cappuccino ones are all sold out in Germany.
Call us or email us, if you’re interested in any specific color as we are expecting another shipment of those cups in stock in a few weeks, but I am not sure what colors will be coming.
If Apple would decide to build their products in the US. The demand for the iPad/iPhone etc. is so hot right now. None of their suppliers can keep up with growth the product is seeing right now. Report after report is being posted on suppliers “complains’ on product shortages. Come on, this would stimulate the economy, I’m sure!
