Watched Beer Wars last night, and as it turns out, I am not alone. Netflix creates an interesting collective viewing experience. Who doesn’t have a Netflix account these days and when new movies come out we all put them into our queue… and wait for the day to watch it.
Now the Oktoberfest kicked off this weekend, what a perfect time to watch ‘Beer Wars’.
The movie documents the struggle of small entrepeneurs pinned against the evil 2-3 corporations that rule the American beer world.
Slow Food’s Annual membership is on sale. The organization that has been battling with the reputation of elitism is discounting their membership for a limited time. Interesting move? Act of desperation or sign of changing times?
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Keep reading »

Thanks to our friends the BBC, and I call them friends, cause they produce the most amazing Television, period.
Trixy, my wife, is totally hooked on MI-5, or Spooks, as the show is called by fans in England. MI-5 is England’s Secret Service and the show is incredible suspenseful without the gore and usual crazy-over-the-top storyline American shows are written.
And now that the show is available on Netflix, we can catch up with lost episodes and put some missing pieces together.
The clip below you really shouldn’t watch cause it explains what happens with Tom, one of the main caracters between Season 2 and 3 as he’s at a breaking point.
This week something funny happened on facebook. What facebook started doing a while back is creating pages for places, businesses and communities that didn’t have one on their own. Now last week facebook created a page for einmaleins. A community page. I have a page on facebook for einmaleins. A very active one that is. So I was a bit confused on why this might’ve happened and then it dawned on me.
I have a business page for einmaleins. Facebook created a community page for me. In an interesting way facebook just realized what I am working on since many months, essentially since I first opened: Turning a business into a community. Facebook just realized this, alot of my friends know this and come to First Friday, support us and are part of the einmaleins community. Thank you my friends and Thank You facebook for realizing that einmaleins is a community. Not just a business, but a place for passion, connection, collaboration and inspiration.
